About Our Car Tire Repair Services

If your car, truck or SUV is having tire trouble, or you just want your tires checked, stop by Brant Jones Auto & Diesel. Our team will look everything over and give you peace of mind.

Are you sure your tires are in great shape and ready to take you anywhere you want to go, in any weather? Can you stop when you need to, even when road conditions aren't ideal? Springfield drivers count on our team at Brant Jones Auto & Diesel to check their tires on every visit and measure how much tread is left. We base that on the manufacturer's tread wear estimates and on your driving habits, which play a big part in how soon you'll need new tires.

Tire manufacturers test their tires under a wide range of road conditions and speeds to make sure they're safe and durable. That's true for every type of tire, whether it's built for rain, snow, off-road, performance or fuel economy. One of the most important tests is stopping distance, and many factors affect it. Our job is to make sure you're safe on the road after you leave our shop, so you can drive with peace of mind.

How Do You Know If Your Tire Tread Is Safe?

Checking your tires properly takes about five minutes, and it's one of the easiest ways to keep your family and friends safe on the road.

Tread Depth & Wear: A simple way to check your tread is the quarter test. Insert a quarter upside down into the tread. If you can see the top of George Washington's head, your tread is below 4/32" and it's time to start shopping for new tires.

  • 5/32" or more: Your tires are in good condition and don't need replacing.
  • 4/32": Keep an eye on your tires. You may notice reduced grip in wet weather.
  • 3/32": Monitor your tires closely and plan to replace them soon so your vehicle stays safe and dependable.
  • 2/32" or less: You need new tires now. Tires at this depth are unsafe to drive on and should be replaced right away.

Inflation: Check your tire pressure monthly and before long trips. Improper inflation causes premature wear, higher fuel consumption and tire failure.

Rotation: Rotate your tires every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, or as your owner's manual recommends. Regular rotation helps maintain traction and gets you the most life out of your tread.

Visual Check: Look your tires over regularly for punctures, bulges, cracks and uneven wear. Don't forget the edges. Wear there can be a sign of misalignment or under-inflation.

Trust your tires to the automotive technicians at Brant Jones Auto & Diesel in Springfield, where your safety comes first.

FAQs

How often should I replace my tires?

It depends on your tires, your vehicle and how you drive, but most tires last somewhere between 25,000 and 50,000 miles. Tires also age even when the tread looks fine. Many manufacturers recommend replacing them after six to ten years, whatever the tread depth. The simplest approach is to have us check your tread depth and condition at every visit, so you know well before it becomes a safety issue.

Can a flat tire be repaired, or do I need a new one?

Many flats can be repaired. A small puncture in the tread area, like a nail or screw, can usually be patched and plugged safely. Punctures in the sidewall or shoulder, large holes, or a tire that was driven on while flat usually mean it's time for a replacement. Bring it in and we'll tell you which one you need.

Why is my car pulling to one side or my tires wearing unevenly?

Pulling and uneven wear are usually caused by poor wheel alignment, incorrect tire pressure or worn suspension parts. Left alone, they shorten tire life and can affect handling and braking. We'll check your pressure, tread wear pattern and alignment to find the cause.

Had brakes repaired on my 2012 Expedition. Completely satisfied. Owner is honest and makes a great effort to see that each repair is to done correctly and that the customer is satisfied. Brant Jones has been my mechanic for 18 years. An honest and helpful mechanic is a good find. Any one star reviews are most likely written by someone who cannot be pleased or by a competing auto repair shop.

Absolutely fantastic! I work for a roadside assistance company and I called then to help us with a tow the other night, Blue was amazing. He got there quickly and was super pleasant on the phone. If I can even get more business their way they will get it every time. #teamblue
