JASPER® provides an exceptional warranty on its remanufactured automatic and standard transmissions because every one goes through its extensive "Do It Right" process for worry-free operation. JASPER® also offers an optional Premium Service Plan that provides allowances for towing, car rental, fluids and premium labor should a problem arise.

Thorough Cleaning

Every JASPER® reman transmission is completely disassembled and cleaned to remove contaminants that cause premature wear on gears, bearings, shafts and other precision components like the valve body. Cleaning includes hand washing of individual components. Parts are carefully inspected, and bushing surfaces are polished to a micro finish for extended bushing life.

Exact Tolerances

As transmission technology advances, maintaining exact tolerances becomes increasingly important. JASPER's machining processes are critical to proper operating pressures and a long service life:

• Case and valve body resurfacing, along with profilometer inspection of shaft finish, lets JASPER® maintain exact standards and precise tolerances in every phase of remanufacturing.
• The front pump and gears are carefully gauged and, if they don't meet exact tolerances, machined until they do.
• Specific transmissions receive updates. On the 5R110, for example, JASPER® installs a machine-in-place bushing in the pump housing for correct alignment between the pump housing and converter hub.

Torque Converters

Torque converters are cut open for thorough cleaning and accurate inspection. Washers, spacers, springs, rollers and the lock-up clutch piston (new or re-lined, as applicable) are replaced. Turbine fins are inspected and retightened, and welded on specific applications. Hubs are carefully inspected and replaced. Converters are pressure tested and dynamically balanced to eliminate vibration that could cause noise, leaks or transmission damage.

Valve Bodies

Valve bodies are disassembled, cleaned and remanufactured by skilled technicians. Every component is inspected for wear, and the valve body is resurfaced for correct mating and sealing with the transmission case.

Valve Body Testing

Valve bodies are tested on an Answermatic test unit that simulates actual vehicle operation, varying vehicle speed and driver demand hydraulically. The Answermatic quickly locates cracks and imperfections and verifies accurate shift points.

Transmission Pre-Inspection

Transmission performance is pre-inspected at the assembly station to confirm correct operation before further assembly and testing. Pressurized fluid and special fixtures are used to test for circuit leakage.

New Parts

JASPER® remanufactured transmissions receive a standard set of new and qualified parts for smooth, consistent performance and long unit life. They're assembled by skilled technicians, many of whom are ASE Certified and specialize in particular models or families.

Dynamometer Testing

Every JASPER® domestic automatic reman transmission is dynamometer tested, with recorded inspections of shift patterns and shift pressures. Stall, fluid leak, lockup (as applicable) and park tests are performed at varying RPMs and at full and closed throttle. Standard transmissions are tested at the workstation for proper gear engagement, gear and bearing noise, and proper engagement of the shift rails into the detents.

Quality Control

Consistent quality is maintained through continuous ASE technician training backed by statistical process control. Technicians are also JASPER® Certified for specific transmissions and job functions. A production transmission is disassembled every week and every area is checked for cleanliness, surface finish quality, lubrication, clearance and wear patterns.
